Best free form plugins for WordPress

Not every “free” form plugin for WordPress is equal. Some include a real layout editor and spam tools at no cost; others nickle-and-dime basics. Here’s what each free tier actually includes.

WS Form LITE: best free form plugin for WordPress

WS Form LITE ships a professional drag-and-drop layout editor, unlimited forms and submissions, visual styling, accessibility-minded markup, and layered spam protection (honeypot, CAPTCHA options, rate limiting). There’s no “powered by” badge and no artificial form caps.

Advanced conditional logic, payments, and the full 65+ field catalog are PRO features, but for contact forms and polished lead capture, LITE already feels premium. When you’re ready, PRO starts at $59/year.

Fluent Forms: most free logic features

Fluent Forms free includes conditional logic, multi-step forms, entry storage, and 50+ integrations. Payments and advanced reporting require Pro ($59/year). Excellent if you need branching logic before you spend a dollar.

03

Forminator: free forms with payments

The only major plugin that includes Stripe and PayPal on a free tier, plus polls and quizzes. Trade-off: branding on free forms and a nudge toward WPMU DEV membership for white-labeling.

04

Contact Form 7: free and unlimited

No premium tier at all. Edit forms as tagged text, extend via the WordPress repository, and keep overhead minimal. Right choice for zero vendor lock-in, wrong choice if you want a visual builder.

05

WPForms Lite: beginner-friendly but limited

Same friendly interface as paid WPForms, with basic fields and a handful of templates. Conditional logic, payments, and most integrations need Pro. Fine for one simple contact form; outgrown quickly on client projects.

When to upgrade from a free plugin

  • Payment collection: WS Form PRO, Fluent Forms Pro, or Forminator (see our payments guide)
  • Advanced conditional logic. WS Form PRO or Gravity Forms
  • CRM & marketing sync. Most HubSpot, Salesforce, and advanced Mailchimp flows need paid tiers
  • White-label client sites. Avoid free branding and unlock agency licenses
  • User registration & post management. WS Form Agency or Gravity Forms
